She told the Manchester Evening News: "I sit at night, scared, wondering where I am going to go the coin from.

"I accept got can foil behind the radiators to endeavor and keep the heat in.

"[The kids are] non opening the curtains to go along the heat in.

"They have to sleep with hot water bottles. They are e'er full of common cold. Then they are full of damp."

The heating system at Malus Court relies on the building'southward insulation and since the cladding was removed residents have been left to the freezing elements.

Another mum in the tower block, Maria, is unable to work owing to English lessons and caring for her 5-year-old son.

She said: "The job centre said I should stay at dwelling house without child care because it costs and so much, I can't beget it.

"I take a smart meter and I am always checking it.

Malus Court is managed by Pendleton Together and owned by Salford City Council.

The edifice'southward NIBE heating arrangement uses vents to draw fresh air in which can then be warmed and circulated.

By removing cladding, in that location is less residual oestrus causing the freezing conditions in the building.

Deputy Mayor John Merry said completion of works to warm the building volition be done as "fast as humanly possible".

He added: "The reason the cladding had to be taken off the blocks was for resident safety.

"After Grenfell, it has been revealed at that place has been a national failure of edifice regulations and we are now legally obliged to remove and supplant all cladding fabricated from these materials.

"From the perspective of the Council, nosotros are working as hard and fast as nosotros can with the resource nosotros have available.

"Salford was i of the showtime Councils in the state to announce the removal and replacement of its cladded blocks – just the Regime blocked our attempts to finance the speedy removal and replacement locally, and and then also told u.s. that Pendleton Together'south [PTOL] blocks were not eligible for government grant money.

"Later on a lengthy process of acquiring private finance on private finance markets, PTOL have removed the dangerous cladding.

"Only structural issues have slowed piece of work – alongside international supply-chain shortages and national labour shortages."

Pendleton Together said it was "sorry to hear any examples of residents facing difficulties".

A spokesman said: "Pendleton Together know that some of our residents face difficulties heating their home every winter.

"Where this is due to energy prices or fiscal hardship we provide specialist staff who tin advise on the back up bachelor and piece of work with them to offer reassurance.

"This is a service we have ever provided and will proceed to provide after the programme of fire prophylactic works is complete."

It comes later The Sun told of how a flat in the same building became overrun past mice later workers removed cladding.

One couple claimed mice were crawling beyond their heads at night.

A hubby said:  "I was in bed on Saturday night and mice ran across my wife's caput.

"[It went] effectually my pillow and it went over my hair.

"It's not only my flat. There'southward a few flats that have mice."
