Optima has the best safety features

I speak through experience when I tell you that the Kia Optima has the all-time condom features compared to any car out in that location. When I arrived at the scene of the car accident, I assumed that either some of the kids was either disquisitional or expressionless.. Frantically jumping out of my car, ain't no mode possible that the driver whom was my girl could be survived! The police officeholder ran to me and calm me down, and then in a at-home voice he explained that but i of my granddaughters had pocket-sized scrapes from the drinking glass. The officeholder was still in disbelief on how anyone survived the crash. The car first hit the curbing, which sent the car flipping over three times, and sliding most 25 anxiety from where the car stopped flipping. Thanks to all the safe features on the Kia Optima I even so have my daughter and her family and my girl in police and her family unit.

Mostly Pros, few Cons- 2012 Kia Optima EX (loaded)

The creators and team at Kia did an Awesome job. This car is a gem. Think of the sedan luxury of a higher, more plush brand/make without the inflated price. Go ahead, sit down in it! Leather and all.. no one tin argue any lack of comparable comfort and ergonomic design to the higher-stop sedan lines. I bought this car because I like to know I have the college-cease comfort and features on the within surrounding me, but I have no need for the ornament and label on the outside to make a class or income statement. This car is a joy to drive! I bought the '12 Optima EX, fully loaded. But thing I didn't get from with the Optima was the extra under the hood. The turbo-charging would have finished out the brilliance of this car for "plenty" impressive acceleration, but I needed to relieve $$ somewhere - and while the EX (non-turbo) takes the few actress seconds for passing, etc than the turbo, information technology's acceleration is fine. If I had to guess I would say the creators of this auto gave themselves one basic rule when they were making the new-generation Optima (starting with the 2011 model): To make sure information technology had Non I Pick SHORT of ANY luxury sedan out there -and they did just that! I run across information technology and feel it every time I become in the motorcar. Every try was made when it comes to interior/exterior features. I don't come across shortcuts. Every time I put my sunglasses abroad in information technology'south holder, or the motorcar reminds me the keys are in it, or the polish-functioning and classy glass top sunroof, or the many controls that are just the correct feel, complexity and reach and the technology in the handling of the sporty and sleek experience and ride -- I encounter endeavour, and once again..I see NO shortcuts (Thank you Kia design team!). The long list of the beautifully-functioning perks of a high-cease sedan is besides long to mention hither I propose just sit in information technology, requite information technology a test drive to come across all of those items for yourself. Merely I will take this opportunity to mention a much SHORTER list of the few things I HAVE found wrong with the vehicle -- in an effort (I hope) to assistance the engineers make adjustments to only near PERFECT! If Kia were to improve the following I would have NO reason to experience anything curt of 100% satisfaction to consider continued Optima ownership in the time to come too as connected suggesting this vehicle to others: Improvements: one. The car could use extra one-half-inch or so between the pedals (I'k a common size ten 1/2 shoe, but find myself (on occasion) grabbing the accelerator with side of my shoe or boot, and the engine revving as I'm pressing downwardly on the brake, before I realize it and move my foot further to the left. 2. At highway speed (not street driving) steering stability could apply improvement -- a little lateral rollercoaster oscillation going on to keep riding straight - zip that anyone can't deal with, but a balmy badgerer enough to give serious look at steering stability at the higher speeds. 3. The only thing that's been a regular (every ride) trouble is the seat belt clip-in is mounted as well low. I'm a normal-sized person, but it is about i inch likewise low down in the infinite abreast the seat - and an extra reach to get the belt around and down and clipped in every fourth dimension. iv. I've read many reviews on the wimpy horn. I agree. It's a rubber effect -- equally I had someone merging into my lane recently and as I hit my brakes to chop-chop tiresome to let them in - to go on them from striking my front fender, and I don't think they ever heard my horn as information technology was happening (I could barely hear it) and I was laying on it. Some other mention: The backup camera is a must (I have it as a feature and couldn't imagine being without it).. but then most motorcar designs these days have difficult line of sight looking back - then no heavy blame in that location. So, what's that? ... like... 4 things that could utilise comeback? Not bad. Otherwise this vehicle is Meridian NOTCH!! Cheers Kia!

Always has something incorrect.

Automobile is beautiful inside and out. Under the hood not so much. Motorcar taken to dealership for turbo trouble when on warranty and thet said nothing was wrong it was slowing car down it stopped subsequently taking to dealership. At present months later it is having problems once again and it doesn't want to accelerate similar it's supposed to.

Transmission

I have a 2012 EX with the two.4L iv cylinder and 6 speed automatic. When you take your foot off of the accelerator at 40 mph or slower, the transmission "hangs up" and then downshifts one and sometimes two gears. The dealer drove other identical models and they said they practise the same thing. Standard performance, nada they can exercise well-nigh information technology. Why would a manufacturer programme a transmission where the car wouldn't coast? Information technology just wastes fuel. I really like this car, but I am seriously thinking of trading information technology in because of this problem.

Some good some bad

I accept driven the SX Turbocharged Optima for 4 months at present and accept been by and large satisfied with its performance. Kickoff the skillful. Everywhere I go the car always manages to turn heads. And its sleek design manages to elicit several compliments. The interior is actually a lot roomier than it looks from the outside of the vehicle. The 2.0 turbo engine is great for passing cars on the highway without any problem. Now the bad. The Optima SX comes with 18" Depression profile tires. They look overnice but they are a rough ride. I plant this out the hard style. Better to go all seasons. The gas mileage does non autumn within the specified range (I am only getting 18 city 26 hwy) and the my restriction light keeps coming on and off. The car but has 4000 miles on it and it already needs warranty piece of work.

I loved my Optima

I loved my Otima EX /GDI. Information technology looks bang-up and the performance was stunning. Everything a car guy would desire until at 20K miles the engine blew up. I don't know what the cause was as the car is withal in the shop. Very dissapointing as I employ this car on the expressway for my daily 55 mile commute and ever utilise the ECO application to save gas. Upwards until yesterday I recommended this auto to everyone. I can't do that anymore with a blown engine.

Good Car, Bad Air-conditioning continually!

Overall I really like the optima with information technology's 2.4l engine. I accept not liked it's air conditioning 1 little bit because information technology is always failing. The engine is very peppy, it handles nicely and drives and ride smoothly. Except for the air conditioning I really like the car with all it'due south controls, pep, and handling. To me it seemed overpriced when I bought information technology iii years onetime with around 35,000 miles back in 2015 for almost $sixteen,500.

Peachy Auto

My get-go strange motorcar, wow this car is bang-up. Gas mileage has been upper 20's for urban center & hwy driving. Great choice upwardly to have off or pass on the hwy. Within is comfy, cooled seats are outstanding. dash board could have been designed a lilliputian meliorate. Still a footling confusing after xxx days. Overall I am very happy with my buy so far.

Dissapointed

I was and then ready to buy this car considering it looked so dang good, what a great pattern. When I got inside at the dealership exhibit I was fifty-fifty more impressed every bit it had every gismo and gadget including cooled seats. Wow. My dissapointement started when I took it for a examination drive. Starting time of all I noticed that it just didn' t take any good visibility and that I felt like I was sitting then low and boxed in. This is a result of the sleek styling that looks so smashing from the outside only just doesn't work from a practical indicate of view. But I pushed that bated and put the pedal down for a test drive. Ok power only something just didn't feel right here. I can't explain information technology but to say that the ride but didn't have that refined experience that I am use to. Still jazzed with the way the car looked I had my wife come take a drive the next mean solar day. I asked for a unlike motorcar to make certain information technology wasn't just a bad apple. The first thing she said is she couldn't run across out of the car well, the same thing. She said it looked great merely only didn't bulldoze anywhere most equally well as the Honda Accord she had. I just read an commodity in Motorcar and Driver from Aaron Robinson that said the pretty much the same thing. My conclusion is that KIA spent all it's coin on the look of the machine but information technology simply doesn't have the refinement mechanically every bit the contest.

Happy and then Sad

I bought my new machine thinking that I had a winner. And so, 600 miles later I knew that I had a lemon. At 600 miles the restriction warning indicator illuminated. I immediately took it to the dealership and they could notice nothing wrong with it except the brake alarm indicator was on. This continued to happen every couple hundred miles. It has been into the dealership half-dozen dissimilar times for the problem; where they have reset the computer (even though no codes stored) replaced the parking brake switch, replaced the restriction boost pump (iii times now) and replaced the vacumm pump. The problem remains to this day. I contacted KIA global who sent me back to KIA regional who have stalled me for months. I am still waiting on an engagement for a supposed skilful to look at my car. I now have 7,000 miles on my automobile and it continues to take brake issues. During one of the failures I had to brake especially difficult and had no anti-lock braking. The brakes locked up and the car started to fishtail to the left nigh causing an blow; although I did take brakes. Forth with the brakes yous have to factor in the steering issues. The KIA Optima has electric power steering and different hydraulic ability steering the electrical has to be continuously corrected while driving. This continuous correcting leads to hand fatigue afterward minimal driving. It is okay for around the town driving, only become out on the highway for an hour and your hands volition first to cramp up. For all of those interested you can observe information on the steering and brake issues at the National Highway and Traffic Prophylactic website. In conclusion: I would actually like to recommend this machine, but the brake problems, steering issues and the lack of customer support speak volumes on the likelihood of reoccurence for hereafter customers. KIA has to make some improvements to the car and their services earlier I can recommend it.

Then the next calendar month we noticed in that location more spots all over the car. Nosotros took information technology dorsum to the dealer. And they would not gear up the trouble. We have taken it to torso shops. There is contamination nether the paint. This is making the paint and articulate glaze to come up off. KIA will not stand behind there product and fix the trouble.

Purchase a brand new 2012 Kia Optima EX sedan (non turbo, 4cyl) because I believed I was getting the best deal for the money. After my offset refill of fuel did I notice I was getting the gas mileage I was informed I should get. Sticker claimed 24 in the city, 28 average and 34 on the highway. My averages are 19 in the metropolis, 21.5 average and 27 on the highway. When I brought this to the dealerships attention, they told me I must exist driving reckless or too long of stops at cease signs and/or red lights. I was not satisfied with the dealerships prognosis so I brought it to KIA Corp in Georgia, they pretty much told me the same story. This is not true and I believe either Kia is a big liar or I take purchased a lemon. The only two kudos I can requite for this vehicle is the options the EX has would cost Toyota's nearly $4000 more.

Engine Replaced by Manufacturer

We bought this vehicle brand new every bit a 2012 at the end of the model year. It has been a neat car running on regular gas and fairly depression prices. Nosotros always used the dealer and bought a 3 yr oil change plan. This was very instrumental when we had to supplant the engine under the warranty. The automobile is fast once information technology'south up to highway speeds, we ever used it for trips and it hauled the family comfortably. This car has a tighter steering than most and has a firm road feel. Later renting a Camry you really notice the difference. Over all Pro is Mileage, Handling, Style. Con is Reliability of Bulldoze train, Resale, Korean Built, Georgia Built, Mill Tires were Terrible.

The engine was replaced but doesn't run correctly.

The automobile didn't meet upwardly to standards, the engine was replaced merely now the vehicle seems similar it'due south not getting gas continues. The vehicle runs one moment and so seems like information technology'due south not getting gas continuously. I am very disappointed in the vehicle. The kia dealer states to bring information technology in and to bank check it out would cost me $175.00 before checking information technology out. I am very disappointed in always having to pay, if the retrieve states the the engine is having issues with numerous items on the engine. Expired warranty, expired reliability

My 2012 Kia Optima hit 75,000 and has needed a new fuel pump and a new compressor within months of eachother. Over $one,700 in repairs! I'1000 wondering what is going to become wrong next. I have had a Honda CRV and a Subaru Legacy both with over 100,000 miles and no problems what-and so-ever. My next automobile volition definitely not be a Kia....probably another Subaru.

biggest disappointment ever

I bought a brand new loaded Optima at a sticker price of almost 35,000.00. As presently as I got it home the radio didn't work right. A couple weeks down the route the cheque engine light came on and it wasn't running right. They replaced the chip in the turbo and said it was from accelerating as well fast. Well-nigh a month later with 4,000 miles on the car, the engine started to shake and vibrate. The dealer said the engine was set too lean and has burnt the valves. They say they are going to put a new engine in it only it has been in the store for a month waiting for it to come in. I've never had any new car need a new engine in 4,000 miles no matter how it was driven. Now I have a used KIA Rio loaner(stripped down model) and the check engine light is on in it. Idea I had something really prissy at first. NEVER AGAIN will I e'er buy a KIA product.
